The Protection tab is a lot less intimidating than it once was and is much easier to understand There’s also a dedicated Wi-Fi scan that checks you’re not using weak encryption or authentication protocols. The the third – vulnerability – checks your device for things like out of date apps, system settings that have been changed from defaults and weak passwords. Getting back to the app itself, Quick Scan does what it says, as does the second – a full system scan. This again goes back to the naming convention: you’re effectively getting Total Security with a few extras bolted on. ![]() Unfortunately I bough the license on a third-party store. The eagle-eyed will notice that it says Bitdefender Total Security at the top even if you subscribe to Premium or Ultimate. I definitely would ask a refund if I have bough on their website. Despite they are a Russian company, they deliver the best antivirus on the consumer market.Īnd people that are non-related to governments are not a so valuable target for Russian hackers.īitdefender may be a good antivirus only for laypersons that have only basic pieces of software, almost zero IT knowledge,no need for custom rules or exclusions of false-positives, and want everything easy to set up and running automatically. Īfter this terrible experience with Bitdefender, I think that Kaspersky is my way to go again. ![]() This is the page above, but archived, just in case they delete it. You can take your own conclusions by reading this discussion on their forum. But if you are a developer, it can fulminate your projects, can undermine your credibility among clients and cause tremendous loss for your business. If you are a home user, it's fine, despite very annoying, you can download your executable and install it again, adding it to the exclusions. ![]() After spending some hours, I discovered that I need to go to Windows explorer and manually recreate the directory path where it tries to restore the files. It sends the executables to quarantine, but when you try to recover the files from quarantine, it says it cannot be recovered. I was convinced to use Bitdefender Antivirus Plus version and bought it last week.Īfter a week using it, I strongly advise to not buy it! Why? It detects many false positive - as Kaspersky also does - but unlike Kaspersky, it does not give you an option to add it to exclusions before deletion. My license was about to expire, and then I checked the independent analysis available online. So they generally get good reviews, but, boy, are they the opposite of endearing. I also notice that something decides every now and then that batch files, Python scripts, and executables I've written for myself require an immense amount of study before they can be launched - this is despite that fact these things have remained unchanged for months. Unless you turn it off, BitDefender is happy to watch everything you're doing and pop up little windows telling you, "Hey! You could use this feature of ours!" Annoying and intrusive. In other words, the thing that tells you how long to wait is entirely useless. Updates of BitDefender spend forever at 0% done and then suddenly jump to 100%. Doing this has never occurred to BitDefender. A better behaved application will bring up a window immediately and will indicate to you what the source of the delay is so you have some some sense of when you can use the window. Can't really tell how good or bad the security is but the user experience is, well, awful.
